Understanding Shopify Markets
Shopify Markets is a feature that helps you manage how you sell your products to customers in different parts of the world. One of its key features is deciding which countries can buy from your shop.
With Shopify Markets, you can:
- Choose which countries you want to sell to.
- Show prices in local currencies (like euros for customers in Europe or dollars for customers in the US).
- Translate your website into different languages.
- Set specific shipping rates and tax rules for each country.
Different countries have their own currencies, languages, shipping needs, and tax rules. Shopify Markets simplifies this for you by letting you create different markets.
1. Find Shopify Markets in Your Settings
• Log in to your Shopify account.
• Click on Settings in the bottom-left corner of your Shopify dashboard.
• In the menu, find and click on Markets.
2. Understand Your Markets
• You’ll see your Primary Market, which is your home country. This is the market your store is already set up for.
• Below it, you’ll see an option to add more markets for other countries or regions.
3. Add a New Market
• Click Add Market to set up a new market for a specific country or group of countries.
For example, you can create a market called “Europe” or “United States.”
• Give your market a name (like “EU Market”) and select the countries or regions you want to include.
4. Set Up Your Market
Once you’ve added a market, you can customize it:
• Currency: Choose the currency customers will see. For example, euros for Europe or pounds for the UK.
• Language: If your store supports translations, you can enable languages for your market, like French or Spanish.
• Shipping and Taxes: Adjust your shipping rates and tax settings to match the country’s rules. Shopify will guide you with helpful suggestions.
5. Save and Activate Your Market
When you’re happy with your setup:
• Click Save.
• Then, activate the market to make it live.
