This article explains how order cancellation works on Printumo, including the cancellation window, when your card is charged, and what happens after the window expires.
How cancellation works
When you or your customer places an order, Printumo does not send it to production immediately. Instead, there is a cancellation window β a set period of time of 30 minutes during which you can cancel the order at no cost.
During this window:
The order has not been sent to production.
Your credit card has not been charged.
You can cancel the order with one click.
Once the cancellation window expires, the order is sent to production and your payment is captured. After that point, the order cannot be cancelled.
How to cancel an order
Go to your Orders page in Printumo.
Click on the order you want to cancel.
On the order details page, look for the red Cancel button.
Click Cancel.
A confirmation prompt will appear asking "Are you sure?". Confirm to cancel the order.
The order status changes to Cancelled and no payment is taken.
What you should see: The order status updates to "Cancelled" and the Cancel button disappears.
Note: The Cancel button only appears while the order is still within the cancellation window. If you do not see a Cancel button, the window has already expired and the order is in production.
The cancellation window (production delay)
The cancellation window is the amount of time Printumo waits before sending an order to production. You can configure this window in your store settings.
The available options are:
30 minutes (default)
12 hours
24 hours
48 hours
Choosing a longer window gives you more time to review orders and cancel if needed β for example, if a customer contacts you to change or cancel their order.
How to change the cancellation window
Go to Connected Stores in Printumo.
Open the Production delay section.
Select your preferred delay from the dropdown: 30 minutes, 12 hours, 24 hours, or 48 hours.
Click Save.
What you should see: The dropdown updates to show your selected delay.
Important: The production delay setting applies to all future orders. It does not change the window for orders that have already been placed.
When is my credit card charged?
Printumo uses a two-step payment process to protect you during the cancellation window:
Authorization β When an order is placed and paid, your card is authorized (a temporary hold), but no money is actually taken from your account.
Capture β After the cancellation window expires, the payment is captured (the money is actually charged to your card) and the order is sent to production.
This means:
If you cancel within the window, the authorization is released and you are not charged.
If you do not cancel, the payment is automatically captured when the window expires.
In short: Your card is only charged once the cancellation window has passed and the order has been sent to production. If you cancel before then, no money leaves your account.
What happens after the cancellation window expires?
Once the cancellation window has passed:
The payment is captured (your card is charged).
The order is sent to production at the print facility.
The Cancel button is no longer visible on the order details page.
The order cannot be cancelled.
Because production begins immediately after the window closes, it is not possible to stop or reverse an order once it is in production.
