Printumo takes care of shipping profiles completely automatically. You don't need to create or manage shipping profiles manually - our system analyzes your products and creates the optimal shipping setup based on print type, product sizes, and your target markets.

Every time you add a product to Etsy through Printumo, our system:

Printumo uses an algorithm to determine which shipping category works best for each product:

Small Shipping Profiles - Optimized for compact products with lower shipping costs

Medium Shipping Profiles - Balanced pricing for standard-sized products (default fallback)

Large Shipping Profiles - Configured for oversized items requiring special handling

The system automatically counts how many of your product sizes fit into each category and selects the one that covers the most variants. This ensures customers get accurate shipping costs no matter which size they choose.

It's important to understand that Etsy's platform has a fundamental limitation: shipping costs can only be set at the product level, not for individual variants. This means when you have a product with multiple size options (like an 8x10 print and a 24x36 canvas), Etsy requires you to use a single shipping profile that applies to all sizes.

This technical constraint is why Printumo developed its shipping profile system. Rather than forcing you to manually figure out a compromise shipping cost that works for all your variants, our algorithm automatically analyzes your product's size distribution and selects the most appropriate shipping category.

This ensures the majority of your customers see accurate shipping costs, even though we can't set perfect variant-specific pricing due to Etsy's limitations.

Because Etsy allows only one shipping cost per listing, every size in a listing shows the cost of the size group the listing was given. A canvas listing with three small sizes and three medium sizes gets the Medium cost, so a 40 x 30 cm canvas shows the same shipping as an 80 x 60 cm one.

The price page in Printumo shows the real shipping cost of each size. That is why it can be much lower than the figure Etsy shows on the listing.

If you want your small sizes to show a lower shipping cost, put them in a listing of their own. A listing that holds only small sizes gets the Small cost.

Printumo automatically creates different shipping profiles based on where your products will be shipped and what type of shop you have:

Every canvas listing uses one shared canvas shipping profile per size tier (Small, Medium or Large). That profile reaches Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia and a number of other countries, so one listing can be bought from all of them.

Etsy asks for a single "ships from" country on every shipping profile. A new canvas profile says the Czech Republic, or the United States if your shop's currency is US dollars. You can change it at any time for all your canvas listings with the Canvas Shipping Profile Manager described below, choosing the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom or the United States.

The "ships from" country only affects what Etsy shows on the listing: the origin label, the delivery estimate and whether Etsy warns the buyer about import fees. It does not decide where your order is printed. Where a canvas is made is decided when the order comes in, from the buyer's address: a canvas for a buyer in the United States is printed in the United States, one for Australia in Australia, and one for Europe in Europe. The Canvas Shipping Profile Manager is a tool found in your Etsy Settings that lets you change the "ships from" country of your existing canvas shipping profiles. Etsy requires every shipping profile to name an origin country, which it uses for the origin label, delivery estimates and import-fee warnings.
