Prerequisites
Before you start, make sure you have:
An active Etsy seller account with at least one active shop
Products in Printumo
Part 1: Connecting Your Etsy Shop
Step 1: Open your store connections
Log into your Printumo account
Click "Stores" in the left menu
Under "Store integrations", find the "Etsy" card
Click "Connect your Etsy store"
Step 2: Connect Your Etsy Account
You'll be redirected to Etsy's secure login page
Log into your Etsy account using your regular Etsy credentials
Review the permissions Printumo is requesting: read your email and profile information, access your shop information, and create and manage listings on your behalf
Click "Allow access" to grant permissions
You'll be redirected back to Printumo with a success message
What's happening behind the scenes? Printumo uses Etsy's secure OAuth system to connect to your account. We never see your Etsy password, and you can revoke access anytime from your Etsy account settings.
Part 2: Adding Products to Etsy
Step 3: Select Products to Add
Go to your Products page in Printumo
Find a product you want to add to Etsy
Look for the "Add to Etsy" button in the product row
Important Notes:
Only approved products will show the "Add to Etsy" button
Products pending approval will show a disabled button with a "Pending approval" message
Products already on Etsy will show "See on Etsy" instead
Step 4: Add Your Product
Click the "Add to Etsy" button
You'll see a confirmation message: "Product is being added to Etsy"
The process runs in the background, so you can carry on using Printumo
What happens next? Your product is queued for processing. Within a few minutes, your Etsy listing will be created as a draft.
Part 3: Understanding the Upload Process
What Gets Created Automatically
When you add a product to Etsy, Printumo automatically creates:
Product images
Up to 9 high-quality mockup images from your Printumo product
Images are uploaded in the correct order for optimal presentation
Mockups that show a passepartout border are left out, because an Etsy listing does not sell the matted version
Product information
Title: uses your Printumo product title
Description: uses your product description (with HTML formatting removed)
Category: a canvas print is filed under Stretched Canvas, and a fine art paper print under Art & Collectibles > Prints > Giclée. A giclée print is a high quality inkjet print on archival stock, which is what our paper prints are. You can change the category in Etsy afterwards, and it has no effect on printing or on your orders.
Processing time: a 1 to 3 day "made to order" profile, which matches our normal production time
Product variations
All size and frame combinations from your Printumo product
Individual pricing for each variant, converted into your Etsy shop's currency
Proper SKU codes, which is how we match an Etsy sale back to the right size and frame
High stock quantities (999 per variant) since we print on demand
Shipping profiles
Printumo automatically selects the best shipping profile based on your product sizes:
Small products: lower shipping costs
Medium products: standard shipping rates
Large products: higher shipping costs for big items
Automatic regional setup: different rates for US/Canada vs Europe/UK
Draft listings vs. published listings
Your listings are created as drafts, which means the listing exists in your Etsy dashboard with all product information, images, variations and pricing uploaded, but it is not yet visible to customers and not yet searchable on Etsy. This gives you full control to review and customise your listing before it goes live.
Part 4: Fields Etsy Asks You To Fill In
Printumo cannot set every field on an Etsy listing. Etsy keeps a few of them for the shop owner, so check these in your Etsy listing editor before you publish.
Who made it, and your production partner
This is the one that stops a listing from saving, so check it first. Etsy asks every seller who works with an outside manufacturer to register that manufacturer as a production partner and to name it on each listing. Open the listing and look at "Who made it?". If it says "Another company or person", your production partner has to be ticked in the list underneath it. Etsy refuses to save the listing while it is not ticked, and the message it shows does not say why. If you have not registered a production partner in your Etsy shop settings yet, that is the first thing to do.
The optional attribute fields
Etsy also offers a set of attributes: materials, mat included, number of pieces, height, width, depth, orientation and so on. None of them are required, and you can publish without touching any of them. If you would like to fill them in, these answers match what we make:
Materials: fine art paper, wooden frame, plexiglass for a framed paper print; cotton canvas and a wooden stretcher for a canvas print
Mat included: No. Etsy listings only carry two variation types, and both are used by size and frame, so the matted version is not on sale there
Number of pieces included: 1
Height, width and depth: leave these empty. Your sizes are already on the listing as variations, and these fields describe a single fixed item
Tags and videos
Etsy allows 13 tags and up to 2 videos on a listing. Printumo sends neither, so add them in Etsy. Your tags are worth the time, because they are how buyers find the listing in Etsy search.
Part 5: Publishing Your Listing
Step 5: Review your draft listing
Go to your Etsy seller dashboard (separate from Printumo)
Navigate to "Your Account" > "Your Shop" > "Listings"
Look for "Inactive" or "Draft" listings
Click on your new listing to review it
Step 6: Customise your listing (optional)
Before publishing, you can edit the title for better Etsy SEO, enhance the description with Etsy-specific keywords, adjust tags to improve discoverability, modify shipping settings, and update pricing.
Step 7: Publish your listing
In your Etsy listing editor, click "Publish"
Your listing is now live and searchable on Etsy
Customers can find and purchase your art
Pro tip: research popular keywords in your art niche and include them in your title and tags for better visibility.
Part 6: Managing Your Etsy Listings
Viewing your listings
In Printumo: click "See on Etsy" to open the listing. The Etsy card on the product page shows that the listing was created, not that it is published. Shoppers only see it once you publish the draft in Etsy (Part 5)
In Etsy: manage all aspects of the listing through your Etsy seller dashboard
Title, description, variants and pricing
Edit the product in Printumo and finish the whole editing flow. The title, description, size and frame variants, and prices then update on your existing Etsy listing on their own.
You can also change these directly in your Etsy seller dashboard, but Printumo will replace them the next time you edit the product. If you want to price in Etsy, do not edit and publish the product in Printumo afterwards.
Listing images
Editing a product does not change the pictures on the Etsy listing.
To change them, open the product's Mockups section in Printumo and add, remove or reorder a photo. That sends the whole gallery to Etsy about half a minute later.
Printumo sends the first 9 pictures in your gallery order. Photos you added in Etsy yourself are left alone.
Removing products
To remove from Etsy: deactivate the listing in your Etsy seller dashboard
To re-add from Printumo: you may need to delete the old connection first
Common Issues
"There was a problem saving your changes" with an Etsy error code
This message comes from Etsy, not from Printumo, and your work in the editor is not saved when it appears. The usual cause is the production partner step in Part 4: "Who made it?" says another company, with no production partner ticked. Check that first. If the message keeps coming back, send Etsy the error code they give you, because only they can read it.
My listing is not in my shop
Printumo creates every listing as a draft and never publishes it for you. Look under Draft or Inactive in your Etsy listings, and publish it from there.
My listing is not under Draft or Inactive either
Then the listing is most likely in a different Etsy shop from the one you are looking at. This happens when you have two Etsy accounts, for example after opening a new shop. The Etsy card on the Stores page in Printumo shows the name of the shop that is connected right now. If your products went to the wrong shop, contact Printumo support. We will clear the old link so you can add them to the right shop.
A listing I built myself in Etsy is not sending orders to Printumo
Only listings that Printumo created, or listings you imported into Printumo, send their orders to us. A listing you wrote in Etsy by hand has no link to a Printumo product, so we never see the sale. Either import it into Printumo, or place those orders with us by hand.
