Whether VAT or sales tax is added to a Printumo order depends on four things: where your business is based, whether you have a valid VAT number saved in your billing address, where the order is delivered, and where it is produced. All Printumo prices exclude tax, so any tax is added on top and shown separately at checkout and on your invoice.
Deliveries Where Local Tax Always Applies
Printumo is registered for tax in several countries, so orders delivered there include local tax no matter where you are based or whether you have a VAT number:
United Kingdom: 20% UK VAT, invoiced under Printumo's UK VAT registration.
Canada: 13% GST/HST.
Australia: 10% GST.
United States: sales tax based on the delivery address. Rates vary by state and locality, and no tax is added in states where none applies.
EU Businesses With a Valid VAT Number: Reverse Charge
If your business is VAT registered in an EU country other than Denmark, orders outside the countries above are invoiced at 0% VAT under the reverse charge mechanism. Your invoice carries a remark noting that the VAT liability shifts to you, and you account for the VAT in your own country's VAT return instead. See Adding your VAT number to Printumo for how to save yours.
Sellers Based in Denmark
Printumo is a Danish company, so sales to Danish sellers are domestic: 25% Danish VAT is always charged, whether or not you are VAT registered. If you are VAT registered in Denmark, you can normally deduct it as input VAT in your VAT return.
EU Sellers Without a VAT Number
If you are based in the EU and have not saved a valid VAT number, your orders are charged the standard VAT rate of the country in your billing address. Standard rates include:
Austria: 20%
Belgium: 21%
Czech Republic: 21%
Denmark: 25%
Finland: 25.5%
France: 20%
Germany: 19%
Ireland: 23%
Italy: 22%
Netherlands: 21%
Poland: 23%
Spain: 21%
Sweden: 25%
Sellers Based Outside the EU
If your billing address is outside the EU (for example in the UK, the US or Norway), Printumo does not charge VAT on your orders, apart from deliveries to the countries listed above where local tax always applies.
Where To See the Tax on an Order
Any tax is shown before you pay, and it appears as a separate line on your invoice labelled with the exact treatment (for example "DE MwSt 19%", "Reverse Charge" or "No VAT"). The treatment is fixed at the moment an order is charged, so later changes to your billing address or VAT number do not affect invoices that were already issued. If an order is refunded, the tax is refunded proportionally and you receive a credit note.
