Connecting Meta, Google and Pinterest to your Printumo Shop

Add your Meta pixel, Google Analytics, Google Ads and Pinterest tag to your shop, so you can measure your ads and show ads to people who visited your shop.

If you advertise your art on Facebook, Instagram, Google or Pinterest, you want to know which ads lead to sales. Connect your ad accounts to your Printumo Shop and your shop tells them when someone visits, looks at a print, adds it to the cart and buys it. You can then see which ads work, and show ads to people who have already visited your shop.

You only paste an ID from each platform. You do not need to touch any code, and you do not need a developer.

Before you start

  • Your shop needs to be published. Nothing is sent from a shop that is still a draft or hidden.

  • You need an account with the platform you want to connect: Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google Analytics, Google Ads or Pinterest.

  • As soon as you connect one account, your shop asks every visitor to accept or reject cookies. See The cookie banner on your Printumo Shop for how that works.

Step 1: Find your IDs

Start on the platform's side. Each one gives you an ID, often inside a longer piece of code. You can copy either the ID on its own or the whole piece of code: Printumo picks the ID out.

  • Meta Pixel ID: in Meta Events Manager, under Data sources. It is a number of 15 or 16 digits.

  • Google Analytics measurement ID: in Google Analytics, under Admin, then Data streams. It starts with G-.

  • Google Ads tag ID (optional): in Google Ads, under Tools, then Google tag. It starts with AW-.

  • Google Ads purchase conversion label (optional): open the purchase conversion action in Google Ads and look at its send_to value, for example AW-123456789/AbC-dEfGhIj. The label is the part after the slash. Without it, Google Ads sees your visitors but cannot count your sales.

  • Pinterest Tag ID: in Pinterest Ads, under Conversions. It is a number of 13 digits.

Step 2: Paste your IDs into Printumo

  1. Sign in to Printumo and click Printumo shop in the left menu.

  2. Click the Settings tab.

  3. Scroll down to Ads and analytics.

  4. Paste each ID into its field. Fill in one platform or all of them. Leave the fields of a platform you do not use empty.

  5. Click Save.

You then see "Your ads and analytics settings are saved." at the top of the screen, and each platform you have connected shows a green Connected label. If you pasted a whole piece of code, the field shows only the ID after saving. That is normal and means it worked.

The card saves all its fields together. If one field does not look right, nothing on the card is saved, and the message at the top of the screen tells you which field to fix.

Step 3 (optional): Send your sales to Meta from our server

Some buyers block tracking in their browser, and some close the page before it has finished loading. Meta then never hears about their purchase. The Conversions API access token fixes that: Printumo also sends each sale to Meta directly from our server once the payment has gone through. Meta counts each sale only once, even when it hears about it from both your shop and our server.

  1. In Meta Events Manager, open your pixel and go to Settings.

  2. Under Conversions API, choose to set it up manually and click Generate access token. Copy the token.

  3. In Printumo, paste it into Conversions API access token (optional), under your Meta Pixel ID, and click Save.

A few things to know:

  • You need to add your Meta Pixel ID first. The token does not work on its own.

  • For your security, the token is never shown again after saving. Leave the field empty to keep it. To delete it, tick Remove the saved token and click Save.

  • A sale is only sent for a buyer who accepted cookies in your shop.

  • A line under the field tells you when Meta last accepted a sale. If Meta refuses the token, usually because it has expired or was removed, the line tells you why. Create a new token in Events Manager and paste it in.

What your shop tells each platform

Your shop reports five things: a page was viewed, a product was viewed, something was added to the cart, a checkout was started, and an order was placed, with its value. On each platform they appear under that platform's own names:

  • Meta: PageView, ViewContent, AddToCart, InitiateCheckout and Purchase.

  • Google Analytics: page_view, view_item, add_to_cart, begin_checkout and purchase. If you added a Google Ads purchase conversion label, each sale is also counted as that conversion in Google Ads.

  • Pinterest: page visit, add to cart and checkout. Pinterest calls a completed purchase a checkout.

You can use these events to build conversions and audiences on each platform, for example an audience of everyone who looked at a print but did not buy it.

Check that it works

  1. Open your shop in a private browser window, so you are not logged in to Printumo.

  2. Click Accept in the cookie banner. Nothing is sent from a visitor who clicks Reject, and that includes you.

  3. Look at a few prints and add one to the cart.

  4. Check that the visits arrive: Test Events in Meta Events Manager, Realtime in Google Analytics, or the Pinterest Tag Helper browser extension.

If you use an ad blocker, turn it off for this test. It blocks these tools.

Common problems

My ID disappears after I click Save

Look at the other fields on the card, especially the two Meta fields. Some browsers fill in your Printumo email address and password there by themselves, and the fields turn pale blue. Printumo then refuses the whole card, including the ID you just pasted. If you do not use Meta, empty both Meta fields, paste your ID again and click Save.

"… does not look right"

Printumo checks that what you pasted could be an ID for that platform. This message usually means part of the ID was cut off while copying, or that it was pasted into the wrong field. Copy it from the platform again and paste it once more.

"Add your Meta Pixel ID before the Conversions API access token"

The token belongs to a pixel. Paste your Meta Pixel ID into its field first, then the token, and click Save. If you do not use Meta, empty the token field instead.

The platform shows fewer visitors than the Statistics tab

That is expected. Meta, Google and Pinterest only hear about visitors who accept cookies. The Statistics tab counts every visitor, because it needs no cookies.

Can I add other tools or my own code?

Not at the moment. Your shop supports Meta, Google Analytics, Google Ads and Pinterest. To keep your shop and your buyers safe, Printumo builds the connection to each platform itself and does not run code that is pasted in. You also do not need the "base code" that Pinterest or Meta shows you: your shop adds it for you once the ID is saved.

To disconnect a platform, clear its field and click Save.
